From geometry to sensitivity analysis : A practical introduction to numerical simulation with Salome, code_aster & Persalys
Simvia and its partner Phimeca are pleased to invite pre- and post-doctoral researchers to apply for a free two-day online training focused on open-source tools for numerical simulation. The course will be delivered in English and includes both theoretical sessions and practical hands-on work using Salome, code_aster, and Persalys.

Target audience
This training is intended for:
- Pre&post-doctoral students and young researchers in mechanics, applied mathematics, or engineering disciplines.
- Participants with prior knowledge of:
- Numerical mechanics
- Python scripting
- Engineering-level probability
Note: This course is not intended for data science profiles.

A short questionnaire will be sent to registered applicants, and participants will be selected based on:
- The alignment of their research project with the capabilities of the software
- Diversity of countries and institutions of origin
Selected participants will be notified by July 3, 2025.

Day 1 – July 9, 2025
💠Morning : Introduction to Salome (geometry & meshing)
- Theory : Overview and core functionalities
- Practice : Create and mesh a perforated plate
💠Afternoon : Introduction to code_aster (Simulation & post-processing)
- Theory : Code_Aster structure (files, sources, python binding) and capabilities
- Practice :
- Elastic analysis of the perforated plate
- Basic post-processing (max stress extraction)
- Advanced post-processing: analytical field projection, error calculation and visualization
Day 2 – July 10, 2025
💠Morning : Advanced modeling (Nonlinearity & Python scripting)
- Theory : Non linearities handled by code_aster
- Practice:
- Modeling material nonlinearity
- Automating simulations to study discretization effects
💠Afternoon : Sensitivity analysis with Persalys
- Theory : Intro to sensitivity analysis and reliability studies
- Practice :
- Coupling a simulation with Persalys
- Sensitivity analysis and metamodel calibration
